These restorations are often referred to as "indirect fillings" because they are fabricated in a dental lab before being placed.

The Inlay & Onlay Process

1. Consultation and Preparation — Jonathan Adler, DDS, will examine your tooth and determine whether an inlay or onlay is the best solution.
2. Impression — A precise impression of your tooth is taken and sent to a dental lab where your custom restoration is fabricated.
3. Temporary Filling (If Needed) — While your restoration is being created, a temporary filling may be placed to protect the tooth.
4. Placement — Once ready, it is bonded to your tooth with a strong adhesive and polished for a natural finish.
